Before you begin painting, apply an oil-based primer to all of the surfaces and let it dry for 24 hours. Once it's dry, use a sanding pad to remove any visible brush marks and wipe cabinetry clean. Using oil-based paint, apply two coats of paint, letting each one dry for 24-36 hours. You can also lightly sand the surfaces before applying the second coat. Let the paint dry for 48 hours before removing the masking paper and reinstalling the drawers, door fronts and hardware.
First, consider these questions: How many seats are you seeking? How high is the bar? What type of seats would fit your kitchen style? Once you have determined the design of your kitchen island, you can then begin planning for a bar space and the stools that will most appropriately fit.
Adding stools to one side of a kitchen island is a simple way of creating a casual dining space.
